Obituary of Jeffrey Piccone

Jeffery Paul Piccone, 64, of Egg Harbor City, New Jersey, passed away on Thursday, August 28th in Egg Harbor City. He loved his family, sports and golfing. Jeff was a truly special person who was loved by everyone fortunate to have known him. His world revolved around his wife of 12 years and his grandchildren. He will be missed forever. Jeff was born in Vineland to Esther and Camille "Pic" Piccone on April 30th, 1950. He attended Sacred Heart High School and graduated in 1968. He was a standout basketball player for Sacred Heart High in 1966, 67 and 68. He was the starting center of Sacred Heart's first South Jersey Parochial Championship team in '67 and repeated that feat in '68. He was voted as a first team member of the All South Jersey, All Parochial, and All Vineland teams during his high school career. He holds the rare accomplishment of scoring over 1000 points and grabbing over 1000 rebounds. He has held the most points in a single game record at SHHS with 56 points. His most memorable moment would be the "half court basket" at the buzzer to defeat the previously unbeaten powerhouse Millville High at a packed Sacred Heart gym. That moment will always remain in Vineland sports highlights. Fans of that era will also remember the epic battles with Chris Ford and the Holy Spirit teams the tough Vineland High teams. Jeff also played varsity baseball and varsity golf. His passion for playing golf remained his entire life. His basketball career continued in college at LaSalle University and after graduating playing ball in the European league for Belgium. He was inducted into the Sacred Heart Hall Of Fame in 2010. While at LaSalle University, Jeff earned his B.A. in Business Administration. Jeff had a thirty year career in the casino industry beginning with the opening of Resorts International Casino in 1978 and currently as a craps supervisor at Caesar's Atlantic City. Jeff is survived by his loving wife Martha, brother Dennis and sister-in-law Andrea, sister Andrea and brother-in-law Bob, Martha's daughter Kelly and son and his wife Casey & Lisa, four grandchildren, Nathan, Ryan, Logan, and Gavin. Jeff is also survived by his cousins Stephen Piccone, Louis and his wife Joanne Piccone, Anne and Phil Porecca and his wife Carol, the love of numerous relatives from the Favretto and Scarpa families and many lifelong friends. A Funeral Home Visitation will be on Tuesday evening, September 2 from 6pm to 8pm at Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland, NJ and a Church Visitation on Wednesday morning, September 3 from 9:45am to 10:45am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am from St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 591 New Jersey Avenue, Absecon, NJ.
