Obituary of Adolph F. Calovi

Adolph "Randy" Calovi, 86, of Vineland passed away on Monday, May 28, 2007 at South Jersey Regional Healthcare Center in Vineland. He was born on May 10, 1921 in Maynard, Ohio and later moved to Brooklyn, New York as a young boy. He served as a specialist in aeroflight control and as a bomb sight instructor in the Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1946. After his honorable discharge from the military, he moved to Vineland with his wife Florence where he bought two farms and worked as a poultry farmer. He eventually became the treasurer, and later, president of the Vineland Egg Auction and also served on the state agricultural board. His career took another sharp turn in the mid 1960's when he became one of the founders of Citizens State Bank which merged in 1974 to become Citizens United Bank. In 1975 Mr. Calovi became the president and chief executive officer of Citizens United Bank. After selling the Citizens bank in 1984, Mr. Calovi went on to start and serve as president of Sun National Bank until his retirement in 1997. He is also founder and co-owner of Dun Rite Sand and Gravel, a Vineland based firm serving the building and construction industry. Mr. Calovi was a standard bred race horse owner/breeder, golfer, hunter, and also enjoyed frequent trips to the Val di Non in northern Italy which was the birthplace of his parents. He was a member of St. Isidore the Farmer Parish. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Florence Weber Calovi and his four daughters, Doris Forst and her husband James of Voorhees, Janet Walsh and husband Kevin, Elaine Catrambone, and Karen Mayo and husband Steve all of Vineland and 13 grandchildren, Matthew DeBarger and fiancee Karen Santiso, Holly Gamber and husband Paul, Amanda Walsh and fiance Dan Hall, Doug Walsh, Ted Walsh, Elizabeth Walsh, Natalie Catrambone, Ricky Catrambone, Carla Catrambone,Augustus Mayo, Alex Mayo, Randy Mayo, Nicholas Mayo and two great-grandchildren, Nora Anne Gamber and Sadie Jane Gamber. He is also survived by his loving cousins Frank De Cesero and wife Irene, Louise Veluscek, Ron Calovi and Rina De Cesero, his cousin and personal driver, plus many cousins in Italy and Austria.
