Antoinette (Mongelluzzo) Race, 100, of Vineland, passed away on May 2, 2017 at home. She was born in Malaga, NJ to the late Antonio & Philomena Mongelluzzo both from Nusco, Italy. She was the third of eight children. As a youngster she worked on the family farm in Malaga, even helping out after marrying her husband Kenneth Race in 1942, they eventually moved to Vineland to care for her aging in-laws. During World War II she worked in Glassboro in a factory in support of the effort. She then worked in several clothing factories in and around Vineland, ending her career at Crown Clothing. She enjoyed traveling, working in her flower and vegetable gardens, making hand crafts and crocheting. She loved spending time with her extended family, walking on the beach in the summer with her husband and finally taking bus trips to the casinos in Atlantic City to play the slot machines
She is survived by daughters, Paulette Laubsch, Carol Ann Townsend and Lucille Marano & her fiancé, Robert Gaidosh; five grandchildren, Kenneth & Barbara Laubsch, Michael Townsend and his fiancee Heather Baker, Alfred & Lisa Laubsch, Lisa Marano & her fiancé Chet Peden; and David & Sharon Townsend; eight great-grandchildren, Matthew Laubsch, Jeremy Laubsch, Logan Townsend, Amelia Laubsch, Sarah Laubsch, Kyle Peden, Nicole Townsend & Michelle Townsend; sister-in-law, Anna Mongelluzzo and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Antoinette was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Race and her sisters & brothers, Angie Testa, Millie Paul, Anthony Mongelluzzo, Theresa Beckham, Fredrick Mongelluzzo; Pasquale Mongelluzzo & Viola Alexander.
A church visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:15am to 10:15am followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 am from Divine Mercy Parish, 23 West Chestnut Avenue, Vineland. Interment will follow in Siloam Cemetery, Vineland.
