Biography

Jose R. Matos "Tito", 78, of Landisville passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2012 after a brief illness at Cooper University Hospital in Camden. Born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, he was a lifelong resident of Landisville who studied in Puerto Rico. Prior to his retirement he was employed as a Presser, for 19 years, with American Sportswear in Vineland. He enjoyed horse racing, gardening, carpentry, the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles as well as spending time with his loved ones.
Tito was the husband to the late Maria I. (Rodriguez) Matos and son of the late Ramon and Nieves Matos.

He is survived by his son & daughter-in-law, Ramon L. Jr. & Nydia Narvaez; son & daughter-in-law, Jose A. & Mary Matos; daughter & companion, Frances Matos & Jesus; son & fiancé, Jesus M. Matos & Denise; daughter, Jacqueline Matos; daughter & son-in-law, Blanca N. Matos-Phillips & Jeffry; daughter & son-in-law, Gloria & Luis Pomales Jr.; brother & sister-in-law, Jesus & Carmen Matos; grandchildren, Lesley Narvaez-Mateo, Tiffany Suarez; Jesmar Matos, Luis Pomales III, Emilio Pomales; Juliana Matos, Alexis Phillips & Sean Phillips; step-grandchildren, Kevin Gaines & Jo-El Phillips; 2 great-grandchildren; nieces & nephews, Several; predeceased wife in 1994, Maria I. (Rodriguez) Matos; predeceased parents, Ramon & Nieves Matos; predeceased brothers, Miguel A. & Efrian Matos.

Funeral Home Visitations will be held on Thursday from 6pm to 8pm and Friday 9:15am to 10:15am at Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday at 11am from Our Lady Of The Blessed Sacrament - Church Of Our Lady Of Victories, 202 Northwest Boulevard, Landisville. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland.
