Leonard Wayne Chambers, 85, of Vineland passed away Monday, February 15, 2010 in the South Jersey Regional Medical Center. The son of the late Lyle Wayne and Clara Shields Chambers, Wayne was born September 22, 1924 in Osawatomie, Kansas. A veteran of World War II, he served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1948. Wayne worked for Texaco Refinery for 24 years. His work laying pipeline and his work as a heavy diesel mechanic for various pipeline companies including Oklahoma Pipeline and Williams Brothers took him to many parts of the United States and to many countries around the world including North Africa, Saudi Arabia, Oman and several countries in South America. While living in Thorofare, NJ Wayne met Doris Tamanini of Vineland and they married in 1949. Doris was the granddaughter of Joseph and Jenny DeMatte Franceschini of Vineland. Wayne and Doris, both avid golfers, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary before Doris' death in 2000.
Wayne and Doris lived in Des Moines, Iowa for several years and during that time Wayne was employed by Green Construction. Wayne and Doris returned to Vineland in 1986. Wayne then went to work for J.F. Gillespie Industries where he worked as a heavy diesel mechanic until recently. He also restored engines for antique cars until recently.
Survivors include his brother Robert Chambers of Mississippi and his sister Nadine Burgoon of Indiana. Wayne leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to mourn his death.
Wayne was predeceased by his wife Doris, his son Terence Farabella, his sister Marion Chambers, his little dog ShuShu and his daughter-in-law Arlene Castellini Farabella.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:30am to 10:30am followed by a religious service at 10:30am at Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland, NJ 08360. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
