Licia Mattioli, 88 passed away on Monday, January 25, 2010. She was born in Bologna, Italy to the late Edmondo and Margherita Galletti. There she met and married Dr. Delmo Mattioli. After the war they came to America and began their life as a young couple. In America Licia met and embraced her American family and loved them deeply. Licia and Delmo had two children, daughters Margaret and Marina. Licia worked as her husband's office manager for a number of years. She was a devoted mother and wife. But of all her many accomplishments perhaps she will best be remembered for her courageous approach to life. Throughout her life she repeatedly faced debilitating physical challenges She never complained nor bemoaned her fate and she was a deeply religious woman with a strong faith. She accepted what was given her and was happy to be part of our lives. She taught us more than she ever will know about endurance, faith, courage and love. Licia will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by daughter Marina and her husband Paolo Sacchetti of Landisville and daughter Margaret Mattioli of Minotola; a sister Mirella Baravelli of Bologna, Italy; niece Patricia and nephew Luca Baravelli; grandchildren Mario and his wife Megan Sacchetti and three great-grandchildren Marie, Emma and Isabella Sacchetti.

Licia was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Delmo Mattioli.

I am certain Dr Mattioli appreciated his 2 year vacation, but having his wife with him seemed to be his strongest purpose. Now they are together forever, as it was meant to be. Love you Margaret.

As a patient of Dr. Mattioli (who I loved dearly), I only saw Miss Licia a few times but heard about her every time I visited the office as he always spoke about her with love and reverence. I know he's now complete as she has joined him. God bless you both.

We are not sure that either of us has ever met anyone who held life so dearly. Despite what many of us may refer to as a diminshed quality of life, this amazing woman thought otherwise. She made the best of the situation give to her. In addition, the commitment, devotion, and love shown to Licia by Delmo, Margaret, Robin, Marina, and Paulo, Ellen, Linda, and countless others is second to none. Each of us can only hope that in the event we ever need such love to surround us that we have such amazing individuals in our life. God Bless You All and Know that You All are in Our Thoughts nad Prayers. Peace. Love, and joy ~ Susan and Rick
