Licia Mattioli, 88 passed away on Monday, January 25, 2010. She was born in Bologna, Italy to the late Edmondo and Margherita Galletti. There she met and married Dr. Delmo Mattioli. After the war they came to America and began their life as a young couple. In America Licia met and embraced her American family and loved them deeply. Licia and Delmo had two children, daughters Margaret and Marina. Licia worked as her husband's office manager for a number of years. She was a devoted mother and wife. But of all her many accomplishments perhaps she will best be remembered for her courageous approach to life. Throughout her life she repeatedly faced debilitating physical challenges She never complained nor bemoaned her fate and she was a deeply religious woman with a strong faith. She accepted what was given her and was happy to be part of our lives. She taught us more than she ever will know about endurance, faith, courage and love. Licia will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by daughter Marina and her husband Paolo Sacchetti of Landisville and daughter Margaret Mattioli of Minotola; a sister Mirella Baravelli of Bologna, Italy; niece Patricia and nephew Luca Baravelli; grandchildren Mario and his wife Megan Sacchetti and three great-grandchildren Marie, Emma and Isabella Sacchetti. Licia was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Delmo Mattioli. A church visitation will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2010, 10 am to 11:30 am from Queen of Angels Parish at Church of St. Michael, 504 West Avenue, Minotola followed by a Funeral Liturgy to be held at 11:30.
